Adam Carolla says Chris Cuomo was unhappy after Carolla reposted one of the former CNN host’s comments from the COVID era, prompting Cuomo to text him and ask what he was doing.
Carolla said his answer was simple: he was sharing Cuomo’s own words.
According to Carolla, he told Cuomo that both he and others had been subjected to criticism and pressure because of statements made by media figures during the pandemic. He argued that people who had publicly attacked those who disagreed with them should not be surprised when their old comments are brought back years later.
Carolla said Cuomo questioned the purpose of the repost, but Carolla defended it as a reminder of what was actually said during the COVID years.
His response was blunt:
“Perhaps you should have shut the f**k up back then.”
Carolla argued that there is a difference between simply expressing an opinion and attacking people for holding different views. He said Cuomo and other prominent figures repeatedly crossed that line during the pandemic, and that the resulting backlash is now coming back years later.
The exchange comes as old COVID-era statements from politicians, journalists and celebrities continue to resurface online, with critics using archived clips and posts to challenge how prominent figures handled the pandemic.
For Carolla, the message is straightforward: if you made strong claims publicly and attacked others over them, you should expect people to remember—and repost—the receipts.
